I know versions of this question have been asked multiple times, and I know that I just asked a version of it (Twilight/Lord of the Rings reader seeks suggestions) but because this is a very very different age group, I'll ask again anyway:

for the girl just turning 12 who has read all the Twilight books, what should concerned relatives give to her to read, wanting her to expand her reading horizons?

All suggestions welcome, but I'm specifically looking for books with minimal sex and violence that feature girls in lead roles and that, to appeal to the target audience, have a romantic element if possible. Please, nothing that would be more appropriate for a 16 year old, or a 10 year old. And I meant it about no graphic sex or violence or strongly fraught themes written in a manner appropriate to teens but not tweens. I'm conservative that way (I figure a 16 can and will read anything she wants, but I do not feel that way about a child just turning 12).

And, as a final element, of the two girls on this turning 12 list, one is my niece and biracial, so anything that has a PoC female protagonist would be particularly welcome.

EDITED TO ADD:
