Did I read that Margaret Atwood novel? I think so, but i can't remember. Indeed, I remember little at this moment of brain overload. I am in desperate overdue overlong novel deadline mode, and am only coming up for air right now because I finished the interminable (but I'm sure it reads fast!) part six just now. Part Seven, the wrap up, will be short (six scenes total, one already written).
Sometimes a book simply doesn't do what you thought it would do. I cannot count how many times with this WIP I have stopped where i was and gone back to revise, rewrite, rejigger, insert, move, tweak, or edit. Not to mention the huge major plot change that hit me on the head. It's rather challenging when you have been writing along for 2 2/3rds Big Fat Plotted Novels only to run into a wall that tells you that, no, after all, that major plot point you've been aiming for all along? Not this way any longer. Try a different path. Shakes up everything? Obliterates your tidy plot for the next book? So sorry.
of course, in these cases, you go with your gut, not your head. Or I do, anyway. So, the change will do you good after you have finished tearing out your hair and weeping.
Part Six is done.
I paddled this morning with my new crew: the 50 boat, aka Senior Masters. It was great to be back out on the water.
And now, for your delectation, gakked links.
Via Antick Musings, a link to a series of informative blog posts surveying current publishers and their imprints. Start here with Part One and keep moving to Part Two and Part Three. Presumably there will be more.
Finally, just because it delights me so, Laura Q over at FeministSF highlighted this online advertisement for -- wait for it -- laboratory equipment. I really loved this.
