Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] shinyspace for this contest idea.

I have one more copy of the Advance Uncorrected Proof of Traitors' Gate**. This is a bound galley, a typeset bound copy of the final manuscript, soft bound, with a blank cover (title only, no cover illustration), and some typos and such, things not yet fixed before the final bound book is put on the shelves. But it is the text that will be published (except for the uncorrected typos and such).

Anyone, anywhere in the world, can enter.

Here's the deal:

1) Send an email to Kate.Elliott@(no-spam)sff.net with the header AUP. Remember to remove the (no-spam) part.

2) In the body, your email needs your full mailing address (snail mail). Without that, I can't enter you.

3) HERE'S THE CONTEST PART (this is ALSO REQUIRED for an entry):

Identify which Crossroads character is your favorite (or the one you find most memorable, which is not quite the same thing but for my purposes is just as good) and why.

This can be as short or as long as you want, although I have to admit that a really long entry might tax my brain.

It can be funny, serious, satirical, angry, or entirely straightforward (for those of you whose brains, like mine, work best with something like "I like Joe because he is honorable and noble and he always asks for rice at every meal, which I found funny."). It's all good. There is no hidden agenda (although some curiosity on my part, as one of the great things about receiving email about Crown of Stars was getting the heartfelt pleas that I kill Hugh because he was evidently very memorable to many readers).

This will be a totally subjective choice on my part, so do not feel constrained.

4) I would *like* to be able to post the winning entry, so permission to do so would be appreciated.

5) One entry per person, please. Multiples will be DQd.

DATES: June 2 (today) to June 15.

Traitors' Gate is not due to appear in the bookstores until mid-August (early September for the Orbit UK edition).

** UPDATED TO MENTION that for some reason (dog? college student?) a bit of the right hand corner of the cover and the first page are torn off. So this is not a pristine copy (but it's the only one I have).
