Late July--Iran--Questions
Jul. 25th, 2009 08:04 pmTwin A and I attended the United4Iran rally here in Honolulu this afternoon. What this means, in Hawaii terms, is that the participants stood curbside in front of the Hawaii State Capitol (which is done in an architectural style meant to symbolize an island volcano) along Beretania Street and waved signs. Because Hawaii is all about sign-waving.
Some drivers honked support; some waved or made a shaka; many just drove past. Still, it always matters to make a stand.
Our group was small, perhaps 40, but I was glad to go because I'm not sure quite what else one can do in such a situation to show support to the brave people of Iran.
Meanwhile, I have been absent due to Life Busy-ness but now things may be quieter again and therefore conducive to returning to a routine that will facilitate writing, one hopes.
Some time ago I asked if any of you all had questions you would like me to answer. I have to admit there were two questions I didn't answer at that time, one because it is a question that I am kind of reluctant to answer due in part to mild embarrassment* and the other because the answer to what seemed a simple question appeared to me so complex and deep that I kept putting off answering it until tomorrow, and as we all know, tomorrow never comes.
So, I will undertake to answer both those questions in the next two days.
Meanwhile, I'd like to ask again: ask me a question. Any question.
Or tell me what you'd like me to post about if you have specific topics or kinds of questions you'd like answered.
There are, I have to admit, a few things I won't answer even if you ask them, but that's okay, I won't be offended if you ask a question I prefer not to answer. Also, bear in mind that my philosophy is that there are no stupid questions (not, that is, ones that are asked honestly). I myself sometimes ask questions just because I'm interested in what another person's answer will be, not because I "don't know" something.
So, ask me something.
Or for that matter, make a comment.
*When might there be another Jaran novel?
to which a later commenter posted:
Oh dear. I notice you let pass a blogger's comment on the "fourth and final" book in the Jaran series. Should I just give up?
Augh! But both fair questions.
**Now I can't find it! Anyway, it was a question asking how my spouse's profession as an archaeologist had affected and or influenced my writing.
