I am home again for the second time this year. I am hoping to be home for a while, but one never knows.

I have some posts planned but only partially written, and meanwhile I'm behind on my previously optimistic schedule for working on book two due to a Life Situation, one of those things you can't plan for or around but must deal with when it crops up.

I am not a person who discusses my personal life much in public and that is not going to start now. In fact, one of the odd benefits of writing under a pen name is that *I* don't really have to be online at all; my pen name is, as it were. And just in cast you were wondering and because I have been asked this question: no, I do not writing differently as "Kate Elliott" than I do as "me." "Kate Elliott" is not a persona. It's just a pen name. I write like me all the time. The name that goes on the books is just a name.

However, I will be posting something about my Personal Life tomorrow (nothing salacious, unfortunately for you all), and apropos of that I would love anyone who feels so inclined to discuss

crawling cities.

Not, mind you, what other writers have done with crawling cities. I don't really want to hear about what other writers have done with crawling cities (except maybe so I can avoid appearing to imitate what has already been published).

I am working on a side project for reasons having nothing to do with anything secret or whatever, and it is a side project only in the most technical sense of the word as I am writing it purely for a personal reason not with an eye to publication or anything (thus it will be a very side project, and may never be properly finished, although I cannot ever rule out the possibility that it might turn out to be something I got published in the future). It's a known unknown.

But it has to have crawling cities in it.

Crawling cities. In a space opera setting.

What does that mean to you? And if you spark a cool idea, can I s/t/e/a/l borrow it for this story?
